HOW TO AUDITION >> Sign up
HERE to let us know which day you’re auditioning!
WHAT TO PREPARE >> Auditions will consist of a vocal audition, dance audition, and reading sides from the script. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out an audition form and get your photo taken. Bring a water bottle with you and dress for movement.
PLEASE NOTE: Auditions are not time-slot based. Please arrive on time, and plan on staying through to the end of the audition time.
VOCAL • Please prepare one piece from the included list below (see “Music Audition”). If you are auditioning for a specific role, please choose the audition piece that best reflects that role.
DANCE • Review the dance sequence linked below (see "Dance Audition") and come to auditions prepared to perform it in a group setting.
READING • You will read sides (short scenes from the script) as a part of auditions. There is no need to prepare anything in advance! Come ready to read scenes with other auditionees and have fun exploring character inventiveness!
MUSIC AUDITION
STYLE >> The vocal style for this show is in the classic Broadway idiom, which is more classically influenced and leans more choral. (Think Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins.) It is not belting like a lot of modern Broadway and popular music is. Vibrato and head voice are welcome!
AUDITION PROCESS >> Come to auditions with your voice already warmed up. We will do a brief group warmup so you can get a sense of how the space sounds and have a chance to sing in front of everyone (no need to be nervous!). This will not be enough to completely warm you up, so please do your own warm-ups in advance.
When it is your turn for the music portion: introduce yourself, say which excerpt you’ll be singing, and then sing your excerpt. Immediately after, the music director may ask about and/or quickly check your range for notes that appear elsewhere in the show to ensure you’re placed in the best part for you; this does not indicate how well you did or what role you may get, so do not be alarmed if this does or does not happen in your audition.
All excerpts will be performed along with the accompaniment track included with the audition materials (see “Excerpts” below). The music director will have all tracks ready to go.
You are allowed to use sheet music in your audition. Memorization is encouraged so you have full freedom in your acting, but it is not required. Whether or not you are memorized will not be a factor in casting; what’s important is your performance, so do whatever makes you most comfortable. Please bring your own copy of the sheet music (physical or digital) if you plan to use it and/or would like to reference it before your audition since we cannot guarantee access to a spare copy.
EXCERPTS >> All auditionees will sing one excerpt from the show for music auditions. If you have a specific role you’re auditioning for, please make sure it aligns with the list below; otherwise, use this as a guideline. If you’re not sure, “It’s Possible” is an excellent choice for all voice types. You are expected to know and perform everything highlighted in the sheet music / all voices heard in the reference track.

Prince Christopher • “Ten Minutes Ago”
Godmother • “It’s Possible” -OR- “A Lovely Night”

DANCE AUDITION
Please review
these dance instruction videos and come to auditions prepared to present this routine as your dance audition. The videos are mirrored, so you can follow along exactly as they are. Dance auditions will be in a group setting, not individual. If you have any questions regarding dance auditions, please let us know!
Please note that we will record vocal and dance auditions. This is purely for internal casting reference purposes only. Ignore the camera; perform to the people at the table.
